Realm Wars Troubleshooting

  • No music plays.
  • Sound is garbled/cuts off.
  • Menu graphics flicker, graphics appear distorted.
  • People can't find your server.
  • Can't find other servers.


No music plays.

To hear music In Realm Wars you need to install the OpenAL Audio Library. Release builds come with music but for the work-in-progress builds music is separate. To hear music for the WIP builds, you must download the music from www.realmwarsgame.com. This music should be placed in the data/sound/music folder. (You may have to create the music folder)


Sound is garbled/cuts off.

If the sounds effects buzz or pop in and out (while rolling over menu buttons for example) you probably need more up-to-date versions of your sound drivers. This is often the case for those with an integrated sound card. Updated drivers for integrated cards are normally supplied by the motherboard vendor, check their websites for updated drivers.


Menu graphics flicker, graphics appear distorted

At this time OpenGL rendering is faster and more stable than Direct3D rendering. We suggest using OpenGL for the time being to avoid graphical issues.


People can't find your server.

Ports 28000-28002 must be open in your router/firewall to host network games.


Can't find other servers.

Since Realm Wars is new, it is possible that no servers are running, especially if you are using a just-released version. Also try opening ports 28000-28002 as above.
