What is Realm Wars?
Realm Wars is a GarageGames.com community project. It is created by volunteers using the Torque Game Engine from GarageGames. Realm Wars, when finished, will allow large numbers of players to choose from a variety of races and classes and fight in individual or team-based games. Realm Wars features ranged and melee combat, as well as spell-casting and special abilities. To learn more about Realm Wars, please visit GarageGames.com and www.realmwarsgame.com. What is a Community Project?
Realm Wars development is run in a very open manner. Code, scripts, art and sounds are all donated by community members. While there are departmental leads and some long-term developers, anyone can contribute what they like and help decide on the future and vision of the game. The design of Realm Wars is constantly revised from community input and suggestions.
Realm Wars is a wonderful opportunity for people looking to get a taste of game development, hone their art, programming or modding abilities, or become more familiar with the Torque Game Engine. If you are interested in contributing to Realm Wars please visit GarageGames.com.
Is This a Beta?
What you have before you is a work in progress. It is not a beta, it simply reflects the progress of the Realm Wars project. The release date for Realm Wars has not been determined - releases will be made periodically, and at some point will become fun enough to become a full-fledged game rather than a demo.
How Do I Play?
Both maps included in this release are Capture the Flag maps, and follow most of the normal CTF rules.

Where is the Sound?
Realm Wars uses the OpenAL library for sound. This page contains the Windows and Macs version of the OpenAL library.
What's Next?
The Realm Wars website, www.realmwarsgame.com, contains design documents outlining the long-term plan for Realm Wars. In the immediate future we are working on:
- A proper Head's Up Display with items, ammo counts, health and magic bars.
- More spells and weapons.
- A new selectable character class.
- The next iteration of melee combat, including hit-stuns and blocking.
- Better maps.
